we just set up a 3 foot pool above ground the water looked green at first then we shocked it and it turned dark brown almost black looking .. and this is first time i ever had a pool what do i need to do i drained it but not sure whats causing the black

You have probably oxidized the metals in the water with the addition of chlorine. Add a metal removing agent to help clear up the water and remove the metals.
