We have an 18×48 intex easy set pool. I got the saltwater generator for it and ran it for almost a month. After less than a month the generator burnt up and I took it back. I’m afraid to get another one until I find out why it happened. Can I go back to chemical chlorine without emptying my pool and refilling it.

Yes - there is no conversion process necessary. You can start treating it like a regular chlorine pool.
