Question:
We have a son with cystic fibrosis. We are getting an above ground pool. What is the best way to keep it the cleanest for him? We don’t know if we should use chlorine, salt, or ionzier.
Thank you,
Allison Shipman
Answer:
Certainly a system with chlorine is recommended, however, a salt system is also a chlorine system just a different way to introduce the chlorine. Salt is converted within a salt generator to become free chlorine just like introducing the chlorine yourself. Ionizers can also be a nice supplement to your chlorine system. They also require a low level of chlorine be maintained. So regardless of the three options you presented, you are still going to be using chlorine. Then, it is a matter of preference. Some systems reduce the amount of maintenance, but increase the upfront cost, etc. So you have the weigh the options for yourself.
