Question:

We are about to have our 24′ above ground pool installed. What is the most important thing we should know. I’ve already got a guarantee from the water hauler that the water is city water and not pond water. What else should I be watching for? Thank you.

Answer:

Two of your concerns with the water (other than the standard water balance and sanititization) should be metals and phosphates. Metals would need to be treated before chlorine is added as staining can occur if the metals are oxidized. Phosphates used to treat some city water can lead to algae growth.
