Question:
My pool was crystal clear, (it’s an above ground intex 14×48) until I topped it of using the hose. We have well water and I actually forgot the hose was on and I ran the well dry and turned the water a reddish brown. I put 1 1/2 lbs of grannular shock in the pool and put a towel on the ladder in front of where the water is put back into the pool from the pump. Now the water is a real cloudy dark green. I have added algeacide, a clarifier and "pool first aid" to clear up the cloudy water- all at different times in the past 24 hrs but the water is still a cloudy green. Draining and refilling is not an option. What can I do?
Answer:
Add a metal remover. You probably have iron present that was oxidized further when you added the chlorine and became a cloudy, discolored water. The metals can be easily controlled by adding a maintenance dose every time you need to top off with fresh water to prevent discolored water and staining.
