Question:
my chlorine i slevel in our above ground intex pool but the ph is reading in the 8.4\’s on a 3 way test strip… water is clean but milky. can we swim in the pool with the ph so high? there is an 11, 5 & 3 year old child that will be swiming
Answer:
If the strip is reading 8.4 and that is the highest color block, just know that it may be even higher than 8.4 (since the strips do not show any level above that). The water is likely to be at least mildly irritating, but it can also make the chlorine less effective in this high range. It is recommended to bring it down before swimming, but at least be vigilant and if skin or eye irritation occurs, stop swimming.
