I’ve put in pH Down and Metal Control in my pool but the pH and Total Alkalinity are still high. I know I need to vacuum the bottom of the pool and clean out my filter for the fine particulate matter that it is picking up but do I need to add any more chemicals to level out the pH and Total Alkalinity?

Answer:

The pH down chemical will bring down the pH and alkalinity together so focus on that to lower your levels into the acceptable range. Also make sure you give the acid plenty of time to work (at least 4 hours or more) to make sure that you are seeing the pH adjustment as this does take time.
