Question:
i would like to know how often our apartment complex should shock the pool. the pool is probably standard size for an apartment complex of several hundred residents. i am in Denver, CO so the current climate is extremely hot (in the upper 90s – low 100s) and relatively no humidity. the last time i went to the pool the water was sort of cloudy – not that crystal clear water that i like to see. i don’t know how often (if ever) they shock the pool. i do know that parents let their babies in the pool even though they are not supposed to be.
Answer:
The pool should be shocked at least once a week, but it is really based on demand. Any time the chlorine reaches zero or combined chlorine is present, the pool should be shocked. A good testing program will help to determine when shock is necessary.
