Question:

i live in a duplex with a small salt water pool, the neighbor has mrsa. can i get it from the shared pool.

Answer:

This is a very contagious infection caused by a specific bacteria. As bacteria can be transmitted in swimming pools, it is possible. The risk can be nearly eliminated with proper pool balance as chlorine kills most bacteria very quickly. Therefore, I would recommend allowing some time after this person has swam before swimming and testing the chlorine before you get in to make sure the level is sufficient to kill the bacteria (1 to 3ppm at least).
