Question:
I have an above ground vinyl pool 14ft X 42in. It has been cloudy (white)for two days, I have been running the filter(skimmer) and I shocked it, but it is still cloudy (white), I have noticed white build up on the ladder, what can I do to fix this (it was filled with well water)? Is it safe to swim in?
Answer:
Check the pH and alkalinity levels to make sure they are not high. This can contribute to calcium and other dissolved substances to precipitate out and cause the water to become cloudy. Also, because of the white build up, it is likely that you are seeing calcium build up. It is possible that the hardness level could also be too high. In either case, make sure the chlorine level is sufficient and it is likely safe to swim.
