I had a bag of shock left over from last yr, opened it and put it in the pool without looking at it and then I realized it was discoloroed, a rusty color, how do I get rid of it, it is safe to get it. Thanks

It is probably fine, just degraded over time. It is likely that significantly less chlorine is introduced with old chlorine chemicals, especially those that have started to discolor. Chlorine in any form will loose its active concentration over time.
