Question:

How do I vaccum to waste? What is the best position for return jets for good circulation?

Answer:

There should be a setting on your filter that is labeled "waste" or "bypass" which will bypass the filter with all of the materials that are being swept up. Attach the vacuum and run it in the "waste" position to vacuum to waste, therefore cutting down on the workload of your filter and lowering the need for maintenance. However, you are also using up water when you do this, so there is some trade off. Concerning circulation, usually the jets need to be positioned slightly downward so that you are moving all of the water in the swimming pool. The exact angle will probably vary some by pool type and size.
