Question:
How difficult is it to convert a chlorine based pool to a salt water pool? When our pool was installed it was set up for a salt water. My husband converted to a chlorine after one year. I would like to take it back to a salt water. It is a 6 year old in ground pool. Approximately 16 feet wide by 32 feet in length; the range in depth is 3 to 7 feet.
Thank you,
Jackie
Answer:
Converting a chlorine pool to a salt pool is not very difficult. It only requires the addition of the generator (which will convert salt into chlorine for sanitizing the pool water) and salt. Since the pool is already a chlorine pool and a salt generator creates chlorine from salt, there is no concern about chemical compatibility and therefore no need to make significant changes to the water.
