Question:

Hi we have an 15\’x 48\" round intex pool, using a Krystal Clear Saltwater System. we have green water and algae in the pool. test strips show free chlorine between a 3 and 4 and total alkalinity at 150, but my pH is a hot pink. Not sure what to do to fix this problem. we have been running the filter for 24 hours and cleaning out the filter daily. Thanks for you help

Answer:

You will want to add an acid to bring the pH down into the range of 7.2 to 7.8 so that the water is properly balanced and the chlorine is able to work effectively. This alone may solve your problem. An algaecide can also help with the clean up of the algae and the algeacide selected should be labeled for use with your particular type of algae (i.e. for treatment of green algae).
