Question:

Having a reoccuring problem with water turning cloudy and also had an algae outbreak two weeks ago. Pool maintenance company says cause is our dog swimming in pool?

Is there any additional chemicals that can assist? Any suggestions? If the dog urinates in the pool which I highly doubt because he gets out goes to the grass and urinates then gets back in can this effect a properly treated and balanced pool?

Answer:

First, it is proven that dogs urinate every time they get in the water. The bigger the dog, the more chemical demand this creates. You will need to treat the situation like a regular heavy bather load. Keep the chlorine level higher on the ok side (3-5 ppm) and test after the dog gets out to check the impact on the water.
