Probably not. Algae are like any other plant that requires a certain amount of light for growth. A better remedy is to shock (superchlorinate) or add some combination of algaecide and shock to ensure that the algae are taken care of.
How do I get rid of black algae? The stuff keeps coming back and we have treated and treated the pool.
Thanks for a reply.
I have a 15ft by 14 inch above ground pool with approx.. 4400 gallons of water. If there is no chlorine level, how many 1 inch tablets do I put in my filter and how long should it take to dissolve?
When I test my pool with a test strip the alkalinity shows a dark green color is that high or low that color isn’t on the box.
My pool stays crystal clear and I shock once a week but I used green to blue II instead of the bag of shock (they were in the same box) I never noticed until I started pouring it our in the pool. The contents of the bag were a reddish orange color. It clouded my pool and here it is a week later and my water is clear again but what I am guessing is algae is on the bottom of the pool and it’s the reddish brown color. I try to vacuum but any movement makes the algae spread and it clouds the pool again. Plus when I hook my vacuum up it takes forever to get a good suction and just by getting in the pool I stir it up.
How do I get rid of this stuff?
About 10yrs ago I purchased a pool from Montreal QC (I live just south of the border). The winter cover I got with it was a mesh cover with a 18" to 24" strip totally across the whole cover that was a "leaf net". Where could I possibly find this. I know I can buy a mesh and then put the leaf catcher on top of it, but the design of both worked great as it was the best of both worlds built into one cover. Can’t find it on ebay, amazon, google searches, and the local pool supply companies look at me like I’m making this up. Any help would be appreciated.
I have an above ground 18 x 48 above ground pool. I tested it and the chroline was low so I added the proper amount of shock. Do I need to add anything else? How long does it take to clear up the green water after the shock is added? Do I need to change out the pool filter often while it is green? I normally change it out every two weeks but have changed it 3 times in the last 2 days trying to get rid of the green…
