Y2K? No Problem.

Despite concerns that caused a rush on bottled water and other emergency supplies, the year 2000 arrived with no Y2K disruptions reported in key sectors, including drinking water and wastewater treatment utilities. The successful millennium rollover period was the culmination of more than a year of cooperative effort between federal, state and local governments, private industry and trade associations, and municipal water systems. In the water sector, a number of trade associations representing drinking water and waste- water facilities worked cooperatively with the EPA to reach the nation’s 190,000 water utilities to ensure awareness, compile readiness information and develop appropriate contingency plans. Congratulations to all water utility professionals for a smooth transition to the year 2000!
